Mosquitoes can be a real nuisance at best, causing itching and keeping us awake at night when they bite. Particularly for children, the bites’ irritability can be quite distressing. Worst-case scenario, mosquitoes spread a variety of potentially fatal diseases. In India, the most noticeable illnesses spread by mosquitoes are jungle fever, dengue and Chikungunya as well as Japanese B encephalitis. In humid regions, the risk of diseases transmitted by mosquitoes is particularly high. During and after the annual monsoon rains, mosquito populations typically reach their highest levels in India’s more arid regions. During the summer, when high temperatures accelerate the mosquitoes’ reproductive cycle, the most active time of year is typically found in the more tropical and humid regions.
